Actor/Writer Paul Gross and Producer Frank Siracusa founded Whizbang Films in 1999. Since the company’s inception Whizbang has entertained Canadian and International audiences alike, with high quality, dramatic TV series, Feature Films, and Made-For-Television Movies.


Currently in production in Calgary, Alberta is the epic World War I feature film, Passchendaele. With a $20 million budget, Passchendaele is a cinematic happening unlike any other in the history of our country. Distributor Alliance Atlantis will launch the film on 300 screens across Canada, and its release is slated for Remembrance Day: November 11, 2008.


Also in production is the dramatic series, ZOS: Zone of Separation. This 8 x 1 hour series centres around the personal lives of international peacekeepers as they struggle to enforce a UN sanctioned ceasefire in a volatile war torn Balkan town. The series, starring Lolita Davidovitch, Colm Meaney, and Michelle Nolden, will air on The Movie Network and Movie Central, Spring 2008.


Slated for broadcast in April 2008, is the 2 x 2 hour mini-series The Trojan Horse. The Trojan Horse stars Paul Gross, Tom Skerritt and Greta Scacchi, and is directed by renowned Quebec director, Charles Binamé. The mini-series has been short listed for the very prestigious FIPA competition taking place in Biarritz, France in January 2008.


Other domestic production for Movie Central include the television movies The Good Witch (starring Catherine Bell) and Bridal Fever (starring Delta Burke). Both have been sold to Hallmark in the US.


Whizbang is best known for its box office smash hit Men With Brooms, starring Paul Gross and Leslie Nielsen. In 2002, Men with Brooms boasted the highest grossing box office revenues for an English speaking Canadian film in the last 20 years.


Whizbang also provides a production service infrastructure for Canadian and foreign projects shooting in Canada. To date Whizbang has service produced over twenty projects; both feature films and made-for-television movies, representing over $130 million dollars worth of business.
